The year 2024 is approaching, which calls for a reflection on the past year. This year Wisehockey has been involved in many big and small events.
Let’s take a look at the exciting year 2023 of fully automated real-time sports analytics!
Thousands of tracked & analyzed games
In 2023, the Wisehockey platform has been used in more than 3000 hockey games in total.
The Wisesport football analytics platform has been used in over 500 football games this year.
We have hundreds of active users in several sports leagues and organizations across the globe.
A spring of tournaments and digitalization
In addition to partner leagues’ daily games, Wisehockey took part in many events such as world championship tournaments in men’s, women’s and U18 hockey across the world in Canada, Switzerland, Finland and Latvia.
The spring and the fall are the Wisesport football analytics platform’s prime time – however, the platform is used daily all year round.
Our real-time data was introduced to more and more viewers by sports broadcasters such as MagentaSport in Germany. Digitalized statistics solutions for TV, mobile apps, websites and other media introduce a unique dimension to the sports viewing experience – automatically and in real time.
A summer of advanced sports analytics
In June, we participated in the annual Linköping Hockey Analytics Conference LINHAC 2023 in Sweden. We were excited to discuss analytics with other enthusiasts. Wisehockey’s Data Analyst Frans Murto presented his paper titled “From expected threat calculation towards real-time possession value models in ice hockey” to an audience consisting of sports analytics experts.
Later in the summer, leagues and clubs started getting ready for the new hockey season. The Wisehockey platform was once again used in many pre-season tournaments.
You can also take a look at the video we published in August where we introduce the benefits and features of the fully automated sports analytics platform Wisesport.
A fall of buzzing action
When September comes, the hockey scene gets electrified. A new season of collaboration with our league partners the Finnish Liiga, the German DEL and the Norwegian EliteHockey started.
A new season also means launching new Wisehockey features. Some great examples from this fall are our real-time Annotation Panel a.k.a. Tagger and enhanced Wiseplayer video features for video coaches, and the world’s first fully automated and real-time EPV (expected possession value). By the way, analytics buffs can read more about the EPV in our press release!
At the end of September, Wisehockey took part in the E.H.C. Hockey Business Forum in Tampere, Finland. Among other forum activities, we displayed our comprehensive real-time analytics features to forum attendees in real time during a live hockey game. Wisehockey continues to be the Official Real-Time Analytics Partner of the E.H.C. Alliance.
Our partner leagues and clubs continued to enhance fan engagement with digitalization. The Finnish Liiga introduced more Wisehockey data such as xG statistics to fans not only on their website but also in a new in-depth podcast.
Wild Wings, a hockey club in the DEL, integrated Wisehockey statistics in their mobile app. Many sports clubs already use Wisehockey’s statistics API which delivers hundreds of statistics to create more captivating content for their fans.
A winter of data, events and new goals
In December, we already have our gaze upon the next year’s goals on an international level. However, we are as busy as ever: at the end of the month, we will be part of two annual hockey tournaments: the Spengler Cup in Switzerland and a world junior championship in Canada
This was not even a full list of what we have been up to with our partners. Wisehockey and Wisesport thank all our 2023 partners: leagues, associations, teams, media, betting and everybody else. We wish everyone a successful year 2024!
