Wisesport has signed a contract extension with the Football Association of Finland and the Eerikkilä Training Center.
Wisesport’s fully automated, real-time football analytics platform was installed at the Eerikkilä Training Center, the home of the Finnish national football (soccer) teams and player development, in 2020. Using the Wisesport platform year-round, the center tracks players and the ball in almost 600 games a year.
“The [Wisesport] data doesn’t stay only with us [at Eerikkilä] and the Football Association, but clubs are able to use it for club, team, and individual analysis. At the club level, they can analyze if they are going in the right direction and follow the metrics they choose. At the team level, they can analyze if a single team is approaching its goal. At the individual level, they also get personalized data about every player,” said Antti Kekkonen, the Head of Eerikkilä’s Football Services in the Football Association of Finland’s press release on 8 April.
Based on data collected by the Wisesport platform for years, the Football Association and Eerikkilä have been able to monitor the performance of Finnish teams compared to the international level. The data shows improvement and also helps to analyze the elements behind the results.
“Concrete data makes it easier to create a shared picture of how a sports event went and how to continue everyday practice. That makes Wisesport an extremely valuable partner for us,” said Markus Paananen, Research and Development Manager at the Football Association of Finland, in the same press release.
The Wisesport platform processes analytics automatically and in real time. This allows coaches and players to view and use valuable data immediately during and after a game.
In addition to football, Wisesport operates in ice hockey and basketball. There is a lot of synergy between the sports: the basic elements, such as passing and scoring chances, are found in all of them, but they also have special features. Active collaboration with sports organizations is an important part of the development of a robust and reliable real-time analytics platform.
